Tuesday, we had two Stocks to Watch, one Extra Inning and one Around the Horn subscription trade on our radar. Two trades hit for profits, one didn’t hit our entry and one gapped in our direction, but below our entry.

Amphenol Corp (APH) was both a 3-2 Pitch and Switch Hitter long for Tuesday’s Stocks to Watch list. APH hit the entry level within the first hour of the session. APH continued higher for the next hour before finding a comfortable consolidation zone. Exit was on the breakdown from this level in the early afternoon if trailing the stop here. If trailing with a breakeven stop, exit was end of day.

Excel Maritime Carriers Ltd (EXM) was Line Drive long for Tuesday’s Stocks to Watch list. EXM moves a lot and quickly. We didn’t like first entry because there still was no good place to put in a stop that was less than 50 cents (which is why it didn’t make it onto the service trade list last night), and that wasn’t for us. Second entry could have been a bounce up off of the pivot (the low of the pullback) or again at the entry price, using the 8-period simple moving average as a stop loss. Using this as the trailing stop, this trade was alive until mid-afternoon and 3 points later.
