Around the Horn: Extra Innings for October 16

Monday we had three Around the Horn subscription trades on our radar. Of these, all three hit for profits.

Brunswick Corp (BC) was a Backdoor Slider short for Monday’s Around the Horn subscription trade list. Entry was shortly after the open and BC traded down and consolidated at the 50% to target level. BC spent a good deal of the day at this level before trading down to the initial profit target level. Exit was at this level for all or partial shares. If partial shares remained, the trailing stop was at the 50% to target level, and exit was just off the bounce up from lows later in the afternoon.

Colgate-Polmolive Co (CL) was a Sinker short for Monday’s Around the Horn subscription trade list. Entry was off the open and hesitated at that level for the first half hour before trading down to the initial profit target. Exit of some or all shares was at this level, with a trailing stop at the 50% to target level, and exit end of day on bounce off lows.

Community Health Systems, Inc (CYH) was a Backdoor Slider short for Monday’s Around the Horn subscription trade list. Entry was mid-morning and CYH hesitated slightly before resuming its trend down to the initial profit target. Exit of some or all shares was at this level, with a trailing stop at the 50% to target level. This time the trailing stop would have taken out any remaining shares.

Nightly Wrap for Thursday, October 11, 2007:

Thursday we had three Stocks to Watch and two Around the Horn subscription trades on our radar. Of these, three hit for profits, one was also a scratch and two were a no-show.

Jacobs Engineering Group (JEC) was an Infield Fly short for Thursday’s Stocks to Watch trade list. Entry was late in the day and after some hesitation, JEC traded down in the late afternoon. Exit was toward end of day off the bounce off lows.

Barrick Gold Corp (ABX) was an Infield Fly short for Thursday’s Around the Horn subscription trade list. Entry was late in the day and ABX traded down sharply to the initial profit target. Exit was at this level or as soon as you could get a fill on the bounce off this level.

Barrick Gold Corp, 5-Minute Chart

Baker Hughes Inc (BHI) was a Sinker short for Thursday’s Around the Horn subscription trade list. Entry was late in the day and was a wild, wild ride. The best I can say is that you took your profits where you could, optimally at the initial profit target, but more likely somewhere between there and back to the entry. Yeeeeeeeeha!
