Around the Horn: Extra Innings for October 22

Friday we had two Stocks to Watch, one Extra Inning and four Around the Horn subscription trades on our radar. Of these, three hit for profits, one hit for scratches and three were no-shows.

Lennar Corp (LEN) was a Fastball short for Friday’s Around the Horn subscription trade list. Entry was shortly off the open. After some hesitation, LEN traded sharply down to the initial profit target. Second entry on LEN came mid-day but only resulted in a trip to the 50% to target level. Exit for this entry was a scratch at breakeven.

William Wrigley Jr Co (WWY) was a Sinker short for Friday’s Around the Horn subscription trade list. Entry was an hour or so into the session after WWY had tested Thursday’s high. WWY traded directly down to the 50% to target level, within two pennies of the exact area. We moved our stop to breakeven, as usual, and stopped out at this level. Later in the day, WWY came back around to the entry price, and stopped again at this level.

Applera Corp-applied Biosys (ABI) was an Extra Inning for Friday’s trade list as a possible follow-through on the Sinker short Thursday. That is just what happened, with an entry in the first 15 minutes of trading and an exit before noon EST on a pop up from lows and cross of 8-period moving average.

Vulcan Materials Co (VMC) was a Fastball short for Friday’s Stocks to Watch trade list. Entry was off the open. Within the first half hour exit was on a pop up from lows.
