Around the Horn: Extra Innings for December 11

Monday, December 10, we had three Stocks to Watch, two Extra Innings and two Around the Horn subscription trades on our radar. Of these, three were profitable, one was a scratch and three were no-shows.

Axis Capital Holdings (AXS) was an Infield Fly short for Monday’s Around the Horn subscription trade list. AXS hit the entry level off of the open and traded down past the 50% to target to the initial profit target within the first half hour. Exit was at the initial profit target or as close as you could come. The stock triggered again later in the day providing us with a second entry opportunity and the same outcome.

Carmax (KMX) was an Extra Inning long for Monday’s trade list. KMX hit the entry level mid-day. At least two other intraday opportunities presented themselves, one earlier off of support at morning lows and another later in the day on the break above consolidation. Exit for any of these entries was end of day.

Wellpoint Inc (WLP) was an Extra Inning short setup for Monday’s trading. Entry was shortly after the open and was a quick ride down to lows and a reversal area. Exit was on the break up from these lows on a break above resistance and cross of the 8-period moving average.
