Monday, February 2, 2009 we had five Around the Horn subscription trades on our radar. Of these, one yielded some profits, one was a no-show and two were losses. The volatility today was huge and it definitely gave us the run-around.

Textron Inc (TXT) was a Backdoor Slider short for Monday’s Around the Horn subscription trade list. TXT hit our entry price just after the opening bell and traded down to the 50% to target level, signaling we move our stop to a breakeven stop. This is where we exited the first trade, but took second entry not long afterward. The second entry had a little more promise, taking us out at the 50% to target level after coming within 10 cents of our profit target.

Gap Inc (GPS) was a Fast Ball short for Monday’s Around the Horn subscription trade list. GPS opened and traded lower on morning weakness, triggering our entry level. GPS found support and jumped higher on a better than expected ISM number and kept trading higher to tag our stop level, but barely. Later in the session GPS had a second entry that fizzled out end of day, leaving the trade with a small loss.

Harte-Hanks Inc (HHS) was a Fast Ball short for Monday’s Around the Horn subscription trade list. HHS hit off the open only to reverse and trade higher, eventually taking us to our stop loss end of day.

Friday, January 30, 2009 we had four Around the Horn subscription trades on our radar. Of these, one yielded profits, one was a loss, one was a no-show and the other a scratch.

Barrick Gold Corp (ABX) was a Fast Ball long for Friday’s Around the Horn subscription trade list. ABX gapped higher and we were triggered in on what looked to be a reversal. Exit was at the planned stop loss level.

CNH Global (CNH) was a Backdoor Slider short for Friday’s Around the Horn subscription trade list. Entry was in the morning with steady trading down to hover at a level above the initial profit target, eventually hitting our target.
