Juniper Networks (JNPR) has a very interesting 6-month chart. After a big gap-down move, you can see that 18.75 has played a critical role in the trading of JNPR, initially being resistance and now support (related article: when support becomes resistance). You will also notice that the lows on JNPR are getting higher and the highs are getting lower:

One of two things will happen:

1. This descending triangle will break down and JNPR will fall apart.
2. This critical support level will hold and JNPR will fill the gap.

MRV Communications (NASDAQ: MRVC) is another one of these fiber optics stocks that have just been on a tear lately. This may have a little to do with the fact that Jim Cramer plugs the sector every chance he gets, but the fact remains that the fiber optics sector as a whole is on fire!

Recently, it seemed that every fiber optic stock out there took a hit. Is this a case of profit taking that you should buy into, or a sign of a turn around in the sector? It's not clear just yet, but the chart below on MRVC at least gives me an idea of the dirtection of this particular stock. You'll notice that the stock was trading sideways before taking off on a nice 45 degree up trend. The stock shot from 1 to 4 in no time before starting to turn in direction. Since the first pullback, the stock has created a lower high and lower low (signs of a down trend) and is about to touch the trend line.

We should get some clarity as to the direction of MRVC soon.

Vertex Pharmaceuticals Incorporated (NASDAQ:VRTX) has had a nice run. The 9-month daily bars chart pictured below gives you a good look at how successful the stock has been. Can VRTX keep up its bullish ways? That's a good question, especially considering what I see in the chart. VRTX recently broke its up trend line, and looks as though it may test support at 34. If VRTX breaks through 34, it's pretty fair to say the bullish days of VRTX are a thing of the past, for a little while at least.
