Around the Horn: Nightly Review

On Wednesday, we had seven Stocks to Watch, three Extra Innings and three Around the Horn subscription trades. Three hit for profits and 10 were no shows. For intraday plays, come see us in the War Room.

Newmont Mining (NEM) was a Line Drive long on Wednesday’s Stocks to Watch list. NEM traded in congestion for much of the morning. There were at least two entry opportunities, the first (1) more aggressive entry was on a trade up from the central pivot when the Gold index confirmed a long entry. The second, more conservative entry (2) was at a cross of R1, 10 cents above yesterday’s high. Either way, exit was near end of day off highs and retracement to the R2 pivot, crossing the 8 period simple moving average with conviction for the first time all afternoon.

Agco Corp (AG) was a Sinker from Wednesday’s Stocks to Watch list. AG hit our short right off the open and traded down to touch the central pivot at 32.89. Exit was on a trail off of this bounce.

Oneok Inc. (OKE) was a Fast Ball long from the Around the Horn subscription setups. The planned entry at 43.03 triggered soon off the open but languished much of the day. The stop loss at 42.56 kept the trade alive and late in the day there was a small push higher toward the initial profit target at 43.68, but making it only 50% to target. This level pulled the stop-loss up to breakeven, but exit was here end of day.

Extra Innings for Thursday, January 25, 2007:

I am still stalking BEC for upside or downside potential, and tomorrow will be no exception:

BEC

FLR did not hit its Fastball long setup today, so we will be watching again tomorrow, either for follow-through or a retracement back to the 20 day simple moving average, at today’s close at 79.13.

WFT didn’t trigger the Line Drive pattern for today, and we will be watching tomorrow for continuation.
