Around the Horn: Nightly Review

On Friday, February 23, we had four Stocks to Watch, one Extra Inning and two Around the Horn subscription trades on our radar. Of these, three hit for profits, two hit for scratches slightly to the upside and two were no-shows.

Centex Corp (CTX) was a Fast Ball short from Thursday night’s Stocks to Watch column. There were two entry opportunities in CTX. The first was off the open below Thursday’s close, and the second was below yesterday’s low. CTX traded down through both of these levels and broke through the S1 pivot before pulling back to that latest level and consolidating for the rest of the day. Exit was on the trade over the 8, and/or 20, period simple moving average.

Equifax Inc (EFX) was a Switch Hitter short from Friday’s Around the Horn subscription service. Entry was just off the open and EFX traveled rather uneventfully down to the initial profit target. Exit was at this level, either as it touched the profit target or when it broke through the highs at the 8 period simple moving average on the way back to this level.

Equifax Inc

Ryland Group (RYL) was a Fast Ball short from Friday’s Around the Horn subscription service. RYL hit our entry price shortly off the open, consolidating at this level briefly before plunging directly to, and somewhat past, our initial profit target. Exit, was at or below this level as RYL waited for the 8 period simple moving average to catch up to the steep decline.

Extra Innings for Monday, February 26, 2007:

ETN was a Sinker short for Thursday that that not only did not trigger but rather made another run, but today formed an Infield Fly (bear) pattern on Friday. We will be watching for a move to the short side on Monday.

ETN

XTO was a Sinker setup for Friday that did not trigger. We will be watching for weakness during Monday’s session.
