Around the Horn: Nightly Review

On Tuesday, April 3, we had three Stocks to Watch, five Extra Innings and four Around the Horn subscription trades on our radar. Of these three hit for profits, one for a loss, and 8 were no-shows.

Mobile Telesystems (MBT) was a Sinker short entry for Tuesday’s Around the Horn subscription service. MBT gapped open and tagged the trigger price of yesterday’s high before trading lower. An entry mid morning hit the stop loss before again hitting the entry level. MBT consolidated at this level for most of the day before trading lower into the close.

Sonoco Products (SON) was Line Drive long from Monday night’s Stocks to Watch column. SON hit the entry in the morning and tested this level before climbing higher. Exit was on a fall from resistance and cross of the 8 period simple moving average.

Barr Pharmaceuticals (BRL) was an Extra Inning from Monday night’s Nightly Wrap column. BRL opened with some volatility above the central pivot. Entry was either on a break from consolidation just below the central pivot, or on a break below Monday’s support and S1 level. This was a fairly fast pivot play, with an exit as BRL couldn’t hold below the S2 pivot level.

Pinnacle West Capital Corp (PNW) was a Fast Ball long entry for Tuesday’s Around the Horn subscription service. PNW opened strong, hit our entry and then ran out of steam. Most of the day was spent underwater, with an exit end of day, never hitting our stop loss, but a loss none-the-less.
