Around the Horn: Nightly Review

Wednesday we had four Stocks to Watch, two Extra Innings, two Baltimore Chop morning gaps and four Around the Horn subscription trades on our radar. Of these, five hit for profits, one was a loss, four were scratches to the upside and two were no-shows.

We had three additional trades trigger for profits from Sunday’s Weekly Market Outlook newsletter and two very nice swing trades trigger from Tom Incorvia’s Short List article for today.

Carnival Corp (CCL) was a Fastball short setup from Tuesday night’s Stocks to Watch column. The entry level hit shortly after the open and CCL traded neatly down through S1 and S2 pivot levels, where CCL reversed found resistance. Exit was either here, or with lightened shares, end of day.

Carnival Corp

Rohm & Haas (ROH) was a Fastball short setup for Wednesday’s Around the Horn subscription service that played out even better than expected. ROH hit the entry price mid morning and bounced around this price for the next Ã,½ hour before making a herky, jerky decline to the initial profit target. This was a good place to exit or lighten shares, with exit for any remaining shares end of day.

Rohm & Haas

Jarden Corp (JAH) was a Sinker short setup for Wednesday’s Around the Horn subscription service that tagged us in only to stop us out.

Jarden Corp

The homebuilders, specifically Meritage Homes (MTH), Centex Corp (CTX) and Beazer Homes USA (BZH) were Adrian Manz stocks of interest short for this week from Sunday’s Weekly Market Outlook newsletter. If you read your newsletter yesterday, you also had the homebuilders on your radar as potential shorts. All three hit today on continued bad news.

Meritage Homes

Centex Corp

Beazer Homes USA

Swing Trading:

Lennar Corp (LEN) and Brown Shoe Company Inc (BWS) were shorts from Tom Incorvia’s Swing Trading Short List article for Wednesday. LEN hit off the open and didn’t look back. BWS required a little more patience, but had you in the money end of day.

Lennar Corp

Brown Shoe Company Inc

There were two new entries for Tom Incorvia’s Swing Trading subscription service today. Sign on for a free trial to this service to see how Tom is handling these and other premium trades tomorrow.

Extra Innings and Opportunities for Thursday, April 12, 2007:

We will be watching the following:

Jarden Corp (JAH) is set up in a Sinker reversal and is feeling toppy, so we’ll be watching for weakness.

Jarden Corp

Still watching for weakness in Forest Labs (FRX).

Forest Labs

Baker Hughes Inc. (BHI) may make it long yet.

Baker Hughes Inc

We’re with Tom (Incorvia) and still like Becton, Dickenson (BDX) long for tomorrow.

Becton, Dickenson
