Around the Horn: Extra Innings for April 23

Friday we had five Stocks to Watch and one Around the Horn subscription service trades on our radar. Of these, two hit for profits, one was a scratch to the upside, one opened and then gapped past our price, and two were no-shows.

Beazer Homes USA (BZH) was a Backdoor Slider long from Thursday night’s Stocks to Watch column. BZH opened at our price and traded easily up through R1 and R2 pivot levels to an area of resistance much of the rest of the day. Exit was either on the cross of the 8-period simple moving average after hitting this resistance, or end of day if partial shares were left open.

Reliance Steel & Aluminum (RS) was a Fastball long from Thursday night’s Stocks to Watch column. RS opened slightly above our entry level, came down to tag the price and traded steadily up through R1 and beyond. Exit was on the fall from highs, either on the break of recent five minute highs or break of five minute bottoms and cross of 8 period simple moving average.

Encore:

Thursday we had four Stocks to Watch, one Extra Innings and two Around the Horn subscription service trades on our radar. Of these, three were winners, two were scratch trades and two were no-shows.

Oshkosh (OSK) was an Extra Inning long setup from this column Wednesday night. Below is the same chart posted yesterday with today’s price action. Opportunity existed much of the morning, with entry off of the open or above either the R1 or R2 pivot, as seen on the five minute chart. Exit was mid to late day.

Boeing Co (BA) was a stock of interest from Wednesday night’s Stocks to Watch column. With yesterday’s price action, we were either looking for a convincing continuation move, or a Sinker reversal. The latter triggered in the morning, with exit end of day on the central pivot.

Stryker Corp (SYK) was a Double Header short from Wednesday night’s Stocks to Watch column. SYK hit off the open and sank over five points before reversing.
