Around the Horn: Extra Innings for April 24

On Monday, April 23, we had five Stocks to Watch, one Extra Innings and four Around the Horn subscription trades on our radar. Of these, three hit for profits, one hit for a loss, one was a scratch and four were no-shows.

Canadian Pacific Railway (CP) was a Line Drive long setup for Monday from the weekend’s Stocks to Watch column. CP hit the entry level shortly after the open, and traded aimlessly from R1 slowly up to and through R2. CP consolidated on R2, and exit was on a fall back below R2 and cross of the 8 period simple moving average.

Dominion Resources (D) was a Line Drive long setup for Monday from the weekend’s Stocks to Watch column. D hit our entry level, backed off, then hit again. This could have resulted in a scratch and reentry, or a ride underwater with a stop at opening price, keeping the trade open, but either way D moved up to R2 and fell back from this level. Exit was either on the fall from this level, or the failure to break through R2 for the second time later in the day.

Allstate Corp (ALL) was a Line Drive long setup for Monday’s Around the Horn subscription service. All tagged us in at the planned entry, only to stop us out at the planned stop loss.

Lennar Corp (LEN) was a Switch Hitter short setup for Monday’s Around the Horn subscription service. LEN triggered our entry mid-morning and bobbled around this price before trading down to and through S2. This level then became resistance and exit was end of day, just a dime or so short of the target price of 43.01.
