Around the Horn: Extra Innings for May 1

Monday we had four Stocks to Watch, three Extra Innings and four Around the Horn subscription service trades on our radar. Of these, two hit for profits and another had profit opportunity, two were scratches to the upside, and six were no-shows.

Alaska Air (ALK) was a Fastball Short for Monday’s Around the Horn subscription service. ALK opened at our price and traded quickly down to our initial profit target, consolidating on this level before legging down from S1 to S2. Exit was either partially or entirely at the initial profit target, with exit of any remaining shares end of day.

Honorable Mention:

Eastman Chemical (EMN) was a Sinker short for Monday’s Around the Horn subscription service. EMN did not trigger our entry (just above Friday’s highs) but entry off the open was good until exit end of day

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc (TMO) was an Extra Inning short setup from this column for Monday’s trading. Entry opportunity existed much of the morning below S1 at the entry level, below this consolidation. Exit end of day.

Extra Innings and Opportunities for Tuesday, May 1, 2007:

No extra innings for tonight. The moves today were extreme one way or the other, with several trades not triggering our entry, but not setting up for tomorrow, either.
