Around the Horn: Extra Innings for July 9

Friday, we had three Stocks to Watch and three Around the Horn subscription service trades on our radar. Of these, four hit for profits and two were no-shows.

General Growth Properties (GGP) was an Infield Fly short setup for Friday’s Around the Horn subscription service. GGP hit our entry price off of the open and traded widely at this level, slowly descending, for most of the morning. GGP didn’t quite make our initial target at 53.68 and exit was end of day.

McKesson Corp (MCK) was a Switch Hitter short setup for Friday’s Around the Horn subscription service. Much like GGP, MCK hit our entry price off of the open and consolidated for most of the day. MCK didn’t quite make our initial target at 59.22 and exit was end of day.

McKesson Corp

Watsco Inc (WSO) was a Line Drive long setup for Friday’s Around the Horn subscription service. WSO hit our long entry late morning and traded between this level and the initial target for most of the day. Late in the day, WSO took off to our profit target and beyond. With no immediate reason to exit when it first traded up through the initial profit target, exit was anywhere from the fall from intraday highs at 58.76 to a fall back below the 8 period simple moving average and back to the initial profit target.

Watsco, Inc.

Agnico Eagle Mines (AEM) was a Fastball Long setup from Thursday night’s Stocks to Watch column. AEM hit our entry off the open and didn’t look back through R1 and R2, where AEM consolidated before legging higher. After this second consolidation AEM began to trade lower. Exit was on the cross below the 8 or the 8 and 20 period moving averages.

Extra Innings and Opportunities for Monday, July 9, 2007:

Frontier Oil Corp will be on our radar again tomorrow as a possible short. It didn’t follow through on the Double Header short for Friday and may continue to rise, so keep an eye on the entire sector for an indication as to direction.
