Around the Horn: Extra Innings for July 25

Tuesday we had three Stocks to Watch, one extra innings and two Around the Horn subscription service trades on our radar. Of these, four hit for profits and two we no-shows.

FPL Group (FPL) was an Infield Fly short setup for Tuesday’s Around the Horn subscription service. FPL hit our entry level late morning after an early consolidation. By the time the day was over, it had traded 2 or so points in our favor, far surpassing the profit target.

Atwood Oceanics Inc (ATW) was a Sinker short setup for Tuesday’s Stocks to Watch column. ATW opened on a gap down and never returned to test yesterday’s high to trigger a classic Sinker entry. ATW did, however, pullback and consolidate, with an entry possibility at the breakdown from this level or on the break below S1. Exit was end of day.

Liberty Property Trust (LRY) was a Fastball short setup for Tuesday’s Stocks to Watch column. LRY opened on a gap down to the S1 level, falling nearly a point before finding a support level and trading between this level and S2 for much of the day. Entry was on a break down from these levels, with exit end of day.

United Technologies (UTX) was an Extra Inning short setup for Tuesday’s Nightly Wrap & Extra Innings column. I was stalking UTX for a few days and today it paid off. UTX opened at my support and resistance level that also corresponded with S1. Entry was at this level, with a possible exit midday at the break up from lows. A second entry was possible on the breakdown from S2 with an exit end of day.
