Wednesday we had four Stocks to Watch, one Extra Inning and three Around the Horn subscription service trades on our radar. Of these, four hit for profits, one was a scratch and three were no-shows.

America Movil S.A.B (AMX) was a Switch Hitter short setup for Wednesday’s Around the Horn subscription service. AMX gapped down off the open to our entry price, but slipped through, with another entry opportunity scratching out. I blogged about the morning’s action earlier today at www.TradingBullpen.com if you are interested in taking a closer look. After this, there was another entry opportunity that took AMX to the profit target, then back to the entry, and to and through the profit target a second time. There was a large move later in the day that some traders may have caught by using intraday play techniques, but on this volatile day we played it conservatively.

Peabody Energy (BTU) was a Switch Hitter short setup for Wednesday’s Around the Horn subscription service. BTU was as volatile as they come in the morning, triggering our entry shortly after the open. By wading through this mess we were rewarded with the initial profit target. A second entry opportunity came mid-day, this time surpassing the profit target, with an exit on a break up from consolidation at lows and cross of the 8 period simple moving average.

Southwestern Energy Co (SWN) was a Switch Hitter short setup for Wednesday’s Around the Horn subscription service. SWN hit our entry later in the day and traded to the initial profit target and a little beyond, with an exit off these lows and at the profit target level.

Quicksilver Resources (KWK) was Switch Hitter short setup for Wednesday’s Stocks to Watch column. Like most everything on our radar, volatility ruled the day. First entry was soon after the open, but resulted in either a scratch or small profit. Second entry was later in the day and was more satisfying, with an exit near end of day on the reversal of two closes and cross of the 8 period simple moving average.
