Around the Horn: Extra Innings for August 9

Wednesday, we had three Stocks to Watch and two Around the Horn subscription service trades on our radar. Of these, one hit for a profit, one hit for a loss, and three were no-shows.

VF Corp (VFC) was a Fastball long setup for Wednesday’s Around the Horn subscription service. VFC hit our entry on a dramatic swing to the upside and shortly afterward stalled at this level. VFC did tag the 50% to the initial profit target, however, so we moved the stop to breakeven/scratch. VFC came back to toy with us later in the day, however, and the second entry took us almost directly to our stop loss.

Guess? Inc (GES) was a Fastball long setup for Wednesday’s Stocks to Watch column. GES hit our entry level late in the day, traveling to a high of 53.46 before pulling back. Exit was on this downturn on the reversal of two closes and cross of the 8 period moving average.
