Around the Horn: Extra Innings for September 13

Wednesday we had four Stocks to Watch, two Extra Innings and two Around the Horn subscription trades on our radar. Of these, three hit for profits, one for a loss and the rest were no-shows.

Genentech Inc (DNA) was a Switch Hitter long for Wednesday’s Around the Horn subscription service trade list. Entry was in the morning after an initial pullback. DNA made a sharp climb toward the profit target coming within 10 cents, before pulling back. When a stock reaches this level, we move the stop up to the 50% to target level, an thus took a profit stop at this level. Another option is to peel of some shares at this level, with a breakeven stop for the balance. In this case, exit for the balance would have been at the initial profit target on the pullback.

Estee Lauder Companies Inc (EL) was a Backdoor Slider short for Wednesday’s Around the Horn subscription service trade list. Entry was off the open, but was short lived, reversing and taking us to the stop loss level.
