The indices had mixed results at the close today. The Philadelphia Semiconductor Index (SOXX), which was up more than 13 points today, pushed the Nasdaq 100 to new 5 1/2-year highs earlier in the session before they sold off. Although they did come back again.
The markets had another firm session today, although it wasn’t broad and the advance-declines were negative on Nasdaq today. So, a very selective advance.
The indices had a turnaround session, fueled by pre-market futures. The market gapped from up at the get-go and rallied strongly in the first half-hour. But after that it was a different story between the blue chips and the NDX.
We had a very interesting session today, led by Nasdaq. The market gapped up, pulled back in a bullish-looking manner early on, and then exploded to new 6-year rally highs on the S&P and all-time highs on the Dow.
