Support Holds, Rally Continues in Stock Market
The indices had another strong follow-up session to yesterday’s rally. Despite a morning serious pullback, support held all day, and they closed near the highs for the day going away, and right at a 5 ½-year high on the S&P 500, at the 2006 highs on the Dow Jones Industrials, and at a 4-month high on the Nasdaq 100.

Nasdaq at Key Resistance While S&P Hits Nominal New Multi-Year Highs
We had some morning volatility followed by a very strong afternoon rally that led the indices to another strong gain today. The day started out with a gap-up, but they quickly reached resistance, and then sold off very sharply to retest Friday’s lows.

Short-Term Support Taken Out in Stock Market
The indices had a follow-up down session to yesterday’s poor performance. They opened lower, went down all morning, stabilized around lunch hour, and in the afternoon backed and filled. With about an hour to go they tried another rally that slightly broke out on the SPX, but failed to confirm on the NDX and backed off into the close.

The indices had a consolidation session and a couple attempts at breaking support that held each time. The Nasdaq 100 made nominal new highs; the S&P 500 failed to so and did not confirm the move today, possibly setting up a negative divergence.

Rally Unrelenting in Stock Market
The markets had another up-day extending the rally of the last few days. But it was a choppier session, with three periods of profit-taking, each of which held support. At the end of the day the indices closed not far off the highs.
