Intraday support held on several tests, enabling the markets to have a late afternoon rally and close near the high end of the day with gains on the session.

It was a volatile session with eight separate swings up and down during the session.

The market opened very strong, but late in the session the indices sold off sharply and closed at the low for the day going away.

The best that can be said about today in my view is that the markets rebounded from a steeply oversold condition. The rally wasn't that impressive to me, particularly on Nasdaq, but a gain is a gain.

The markets managed to snap back from yesterday's steep losses but it was a very volatile session.

It was a definitive down-day today with a strong downside thrust which hit the indices hard, particularly in the afternoon.

It was an up-day for most indices, but it was disappointing in that the indices had the majority of their gains in the morning part of the session, and worked their way lower and closed at the low of the range for the session, still up on the day but with lackluster technicals, as the day was still an indecisive one.

The indices had another positive session to finish the day with the Dow closing right at 14,000, the first time it's actually closed at that level.

The markets had two very distinct parts of the session: a very nasty morning decline which reached the session lows just before lunch hour and a strong comeback in the afternoon to retest resistance.

The market had a mixed close, but was generally higher, although the underlying technicals today once again did not confirm price action.
